Frequently Asked Questions.

What should I wear? Is there a dress code? What’s the theme?

We knew you’d ask this. The theme for our wedding is moody tropical, dress code is Creative Formal with a jewel tone colour scheme (think deep reds, dark blues, emeralds, goldenrods, and rust tones). Ladies should wear gowns/maxi dresses, and the gentlemen should wear dress trousers at least. It’s going to be warm and there will be a lot of dancing! We encourage our guests to look and feel great with comfort being our top priority. This is a great time to break out those dresses and bright, floral suits you’ve been dying to wear but never had an occasion to! Barong tagalogs, formal aloha shirts/mu’u mu’u’s, and kilts are more than welcome!

“Creative black tie is a dress code that allows you to slightly tone down your formal attire by adding hints of your own personal style. When a formal event calls for a creative black tie dress code, it means you don’t have to adhere to the traditional black tie standards in which men are expected to wear a specific tuxedo shirt paired with a black suit, and women are expected to wear evening dresses”
- Tan France, Stylist extraordinaire.

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Honestly, the best.

Hawai’i during late August is very summer-like with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures. Daytime high temperatures at most beach resorts average in the mid to upper 80s(F)/20s(C) with trade winds to cool you down and a drop to a mild 70 during the evening. Expect warm beach waters and light rain. The indoor venue will have air conditioning.

For more information and updates on what to pack, where to go, and what to see, check out the Visitor’s Guide link for more!

Where is the ceremony and the reception taking place?

Both ceremony and reception will be taking place at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club in Kailua, Hawai’i. The ceremony will take place outside on the garden lawn at 4:00 p.m. with cocktail hour following immediately after. Bar and bathroom facilities are all indoors. Reception to follow cocktail hour in the ballroom.

Do I have to attend the ceremony?

Nope! Seating is limited but there is plenty of room for everyone to come by and cry at our vows.

Or you can skip the mushy bits and come during cocktail hour instead! After the ceremony, the bridal party and families will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can stay on the garden lawn where we will be serving plenty of great appetizers to pick at, lawn games to play, and music to dance to.

What should I do if I can’t make it?

First of all, how dare you. Second of all, we totally understand. You will be missed! If you are unable to make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP so that we may plan accordingly. Parts of our wedding will be filmed so you can watch it on our page later!

How do I get to the venue? What time should I arrive?

Doors to the venue open at 3:00 p.m. where you will be greeted by live music at the bar.

We recommend carpooling, however, there is plenty of free on-site parking. Oahu is notorious for bad traffic so we recommend leaving a little earlier than what the GPS says and get to the venue an hour before the start of the event. The bar will be open and hors d’oeuvres to pick at as well. Taxi services will be included in our Visitor’s Guide.

Can I golf before the wedding?

Yup! This golf course is quite famous, so reserve a spot as soon as possible here: https://royalhawaiiangc.com/request-tt/

There are locker facilities to change and get ready at before the big event.

Are kids welcome?

While we love your kiddos, we have limited seating for guests and want a night where everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the small kids at home so you can celebrate with us.

Can I bring a date?

Although we love a good party, we are hoping to keep the guest list limited (weddings are expensive, ya’ll). We kindly request only those named specifically on the invitation to attend the wedding ceremony and reception. However, everyone is invited to the Welcome Party and other wedding festivities.

What if I RSVP yes and don’t show up or RSVP no and show up anyway?

Why would you do this, you monster? We’ll send you the bill. Please don’t do this.

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

Absolutely! The venue boasts a beautiful Hawaiian landscape and our artists (shout out to Iris, our flower/fashion designer and the Aquino-Lontocs on their fabulous decor skills) have prepared a wonderful arrangement of photo-ops. Our only request is that we keep the ceremony phone-free to allow our amazing team of photographers and videographers to do their thing.

Will Ruby be there?

Unfortunately, not this time. Our precious sweet angel potato baby will be at home watching cartoons because if anyone can outshine the bride, it’ll definitely be Ruby.

What are the food options?

Our menu page (coming soon) will be available for you to see all the food that will be served during the wedding! There will be hors d’oeuvres served before and after the ceremony followed by a buffet-style reception dinner in the ballroom.

Is it an open bar?

It will not be an open bar on the wedding day but guests will have the choice of 2 drink tickets for any alcoholic beverage on that day. If you’re trying to not remember this trip, we have the welcome reception and bridal party after-party where we’re gonna just buy a whole bunch of Costco alcohol and sing karaoke probably.

Where are you registered?
